The Beast of Franchia by Womaneko The Beast of Franchia by Womaneko
"Eventually, I became convinced that I was not alone in the labyrinth, that somewhere among the arches was a beast, stalking me."

That episode (#21 - A memory of Europe) was kind of strange...I wanted to draw something about it for ages!
Speaking of ages, young Cecil must have some nice 80's sideburns. This is not negociable.
I also wanted to evoke the "hazy and sepia-toned European memories" as described by Cecil...but you know, between what you intent to do and what you really do there's often a...huge...strange...gap *kof*
Also, I haven't drawn a monster since my Sword of Truth collection...aaah, I love drawing monsters~

zomg I love your monster! I like the way his claws are gripping at the stone work and he's all "you bro dis is ma labyrinth!" and it has adorable horns!
And Cecil looks like such a tourist with his camera! XD

Thanks! I've struggled with the monster's nose for a while but I'm quite happy with the final result and I'm glad you like it too~

Awesome! Great textures, great perspective with all the arches (Cecil sure looks like he's been doing some exploring!) and great beast! What's the medium here, watercolor?

Naaah I can't use watercolor properly so I've cheated using some filters & textures on Photoshop. The only traditional part is the lineart (pencil). But there's not enough categories for mixed medias on dA, sorry for the confusion and thanks for the nice comment! ;D

I like this. I'm curious as to how you achieved the paper texture effect.

Aw, glad you like it~
I've simply used a couple of textures. You can find all the textures you need on CGTextures. ;]
